Web Page Layout

There are many different styles of webpages floating around the web, and choosing one is often times the hardest but most important thing to have solidified before you jump in with a website design firm. Having a rough sketch can help guide the website developer and their web design artists into what sort of banners, buttons, fonts, forms and even types of code they can use. Adding any design ideas into the sketch, or at least describing them to the website developer and website artists really helps lower the amount of time it takes to build, simply due to knowing which way to take the art and over-arching design.

Features & Functionality

Features and functionality are two very important things that any website developer will want to know before they ever start building your site, so have that answer ready before your first meeting. Shopping carts, blogging tools, Facebook integration, video hosting, online stores, inventory management, chat systems, and even user accounts are all the sorts of things that website developers will want to know about... in detail.

Be prepared with inventory lists, price points, discussion on more difficult tasks to impart how you want it to look and feel, and any other content that you would like to see added to the site. Content creation is a time consuming process, and if you really want it to feel sincere and knowledgeable, you should prepare it yourself. For example, website Developers are not experienced in automotive repair, website developers build websites. You should be the person preparing the content for your About Us page, communicating to your customers with your passionate words why you are different than your competitors. Often times website developers can clean up and polish your content to read better, but the verbiage and industry-specific details should be written by your or your team of experts in the field.
